Space and the Planets

We learned about the stars and planets in the Milky Way. We created our own planets with marbling inks and water.

We cooked noodles and tried to pick them up using chopsticks! Jasmine brought in sweets all the way from China!

Happy Chinese New Year!

We made Chinese dragons on the 7th of February. The dragon is a symbol of the New Year’s celebration. During the holiday a long paper dragon dances down the streets. We tried on a Chinese hat and looked at a Chinese prayer flag.

We made snowmen

Let it snow,let it snow,let it snow!!

We created snowmen by filling a white sock with rice and wadding.We tied a felt scarf around its neck and put a bobble on top of its hat!

Science Week

As part of Science week we learned about electricity. We learned how to create static electricity by rubbing a balloon against our hair. The electricity created can repel objects.When Anna touched the surface of the Plasma Ball the electricity flowed from the Plasma Ball through her body, down to the ground (earth)!

Planetarium

The Armagh Planetarium came to our school as part of Science week. We found out about the sun, the moon and the stars. We also saw pictures of astronauts landing on the moon.

Sinbad the Sailor

The pantomime 'Sinbad the Sailor' came to our school on Wednesday 28th November. We really enjoyed it!

Magnetism

We learned about magnets this week.We tested various objects such as pencils, paper clips, cloth, money,thumb tacks,nails,steel balls and observed whether the magnet stuck to them or not.We found out that magnets are attracted to things that have iron in them.We also played the fishing game.We made fishing rods which had a magnet attached to it.Each fish had a paper clip attached to it.We fished for all sorts of fish in the pond!

Funky fabric and fibre costumes!

Miss Tully joined our class recently.Yesterday she showed us how to create a costume using paper, string, cotton wool, various types of fabric and straw. We loved creating funny costumes for boys and girls!!

We made different shades of blue. We added white to blue to make light blue and we added black to blue to make dark blue.We created beautiful paintings of the waves crashing against the rocks.

Witches walk

The Witches Walk

On Friday October 26th, we all dressed up for Halloween. There were pirates, princesses, witches, vampires, ninja turtles and power rangers in our classroom.Darth Vader showed up too! We went on our Witches Walk around Renmore and when we got back from our walk we had a Halloween Party.
