Discover Primary Science Award

We have been experimenting, investigating, observing, predicting and exploring all year long! On Friday 8th June our hard work paid off!We received the Discover Primary Science Award!
Here are some pictures of some of the experiments we have been doing.

Day at the beach

Ms. Gilligan's, Ms. Costello's and Ms. O Connor's first classes recently enjoyed a fantastic day at Ballyloughane beach. We explored the upper, middle and lower shore and found all sorts of shells, seaweeds and crustaceans. We found limpets, periwinkles, barnacles, mussels, cockles, sandhoppers, bladder wrack seaweed, channel wrack seaweed and serrated wrack seaweed.

We also explored the rockpools for fish and crabs.

The class really enjoyed making sand creations. They built forts, castles and bridges galore!

We also measured the length of parts of the beach using the trundle wheel.

We love the beach and hope we can visit Ballyloughane again soon!
